Tri-Elm sale price had one too many zeros

In our March 23 issue, we reported on the recent purchase of Tri-Elm catering and its renaming as Gan Eden Catering. We would like to clarify a few matters.

According to Joe Elmaleh, original owner of Tri-Elm, “The COR never mandated any name change and Tri-Elm has never had a troubled kashruth history.” Elmaleh has consistently maintained that “Tri-Elm has always had a great reputation with the COR and the loss of certification had nothing to do with their kitchens. Tri-Elm kitchens have always been kept to a high standard of kashruth.”

Ze’ev Saban, owner of Gan Eden, has apologized for any inaccurate comments that he made regarding Tri-Elm and its history.

Tri-Elm received $20,000 for the business, which included a database of 2,000 clients. According to Saban, Gan Eden has invested more than $200,000 to date in the business, and has generated a list of 20,000 clients from his many years in the business.

Saban was born in Israel and raised in Winnipeg. He now lives in Toronto.

The Jewish Tribune is pleased to set the record straight.
