Reader ponders a Muslim-controlled America

Daniel Pipes’ article on the recently published Danish cartoons caught my eye (Jewish Tribune, Feb. 16 issue). Most of the article contained basic facts, which were very interesting, such as which countries apologized for the cartoons (the US being one of them, unfortunately), and which didn’t.

One section of the article made me think twice. It said, “Will the West stand up for it’s customs…including freedom of speech, or will Muslims impose their way of life on the West? Ultimately, there is no compromise. Westerners will either retain their civilization…or not.”

My immediate reaction was to envision an Islamic-ruled America, complete with Islamic rulers, Islamic laws, and Islamic morals. Then I thought, “Don’t be silly, that would never happen.” But what proof do I have to ensure that?

I never would have thought that the US would apologize for the Danish cartoons and stay silent when it came to the Muslim riots and attacks that have been issued worldwide. Yet apologize, they did, and not so much as a sound of protest was heard about any violence the Muslims committed.

So I ask, what will come next? The US already supports the Middle Eastern countries with billions of dollars of aid every year, and now they are supporting their decisions.

What will happen if – or more appropriately, when – the Muslims demand power in America? Or decide that they want America to follow their laws from the Koran? It seems ridiculous, but America has done some very ridiculous things in the past; this would just be an addition to the long list.

At first glance my thoughts may seem preposterous, but if you think about it for a while, like I have, they might actually start to sound believable.
