Bill Noble, self-proclaimed white nationalist from Fort St. John, British Columbia, was arrested last Friday on an outstanding warrant in Edmonton, where he was held over last weekend pending a bail hearing.
Police have confirmed only that it is a “hate-crimes file” but have not specified the charges according to the Edmonton Sun, although posts to a white supremacist internet forum titled “Bill Noble (Exterminance) Arrested” suggest that hate crime charges under section 319(2) of the Criminal Code are pending.
An investigation into Noble’s activities have been apparently ongoing since 2004. In February 2005, RCMP officers searched his home and seized computer equipment. This has certainly caused a stir in the white supremacist world.
One white supremacist site decries Noble as a political prisoner and calls for what every supporter can spare for his legal defence fund. A posting on another white supremacist site goes on to call for a protest in front of police headquarters: “At least let these hopped up political police feel a little public heat and pressure.”
A 2005 article by Nathan Kellerman, A new Antisemitism, appearing in the Jewish Magazine refers to the now defunct web site allegedly run by Noble as follows: “Anyone browsing the Internet can easily find numerous web-pages and discussion groups, such as ‘stormfront.org’ and ‘exterminance.org’ that have as its main function to spread lies about Jews and to throw dirt on Israel.” This brought some protests from a person claiming to be Noble under the self-proclaimed title of Exterminance on one forum but on the same forum an earlier posting attributed to the same writer proposes a three-step plan to prevent the withering of European culture including “Sunrise. With no Jews to forbid us or teach us to hate ourselves, we advance and reclaim old territories, dealing with savages as savages are meant to be dealt with – and I don’t mean dishing out welfare checks.”
Edmonton police have indicated that charges will be announced sometime this week.
