Kosher landmark closes

Owner Erez Karp
This menu from Marky’s Restaurant & Deli is now a keepsake for owner Erez Karp who closed his popular kosher establishment on July 18 after 43 years in business. Karp told local media that Jewish families were eating out less as a result of financial strain caused by economic pressures including the high cost of private Jewish education. He also cited the neighbourhood’s changing demographics and said a Filipino grocery store will soon be renting his building at the corner of Bathurst St. and Wilson Ave.
