UCC asked to step back and rethink anti-Israel proposals
August 13, 2012 | Jewish Tribune
Re: your conference, of which Israel will be discussed and will be made out to be the greatest evil on this earth (Jewish Tribune, Aug. 9, 2012).
You are a Christian church and therefore without a doubt you are pretty much familiar with the Old and the New Testaments, of course. A church is a place one comes together with family and prays to G-d. It is a place at times where monies are collected for the poor in the neighbourhood.
You, better than I, know a church is not a place where one can play G-d with politics and pick sides. You think you are saving one soul while trampling on another. Therefore, logic finds you are not saving anyone or anything. I don’t expect your church to agree with all the politics of Israel, but I do expect your church not to be antisemitic, because if you trample on Israel’s neshama, her soul, and are even thinking of getting rid of noting Israel as a Jewish state, kindly take a moment and let me know how you are better than the ugliest antisemite, for that is his wish too.
Israel has every right to every inch of her land. You are Christian, no? You are not Hamas, a terror organization. So being Christian, you know your bible. You think the Palestinians are the underdogs here. Think again. If everyone will adopt a resolution that you put forward, than who in reality is the underdog?
Long ago, before the state of Israel was reborn, yes, reborn, NOT founded, Jews were hunted down like animals by the Inquisition, by pogroms, by Hitler. Those hunters were not Muslims or Hindus.
Jews and Christians have enjoyed a wonderful relationship since the rebirth of the state of Israel. Arab Christians enjoy the fruits of the state of Israel without feeling any animosity, for animosity does not exist towards the Christians. It is not the Jews who are burning down churches almost on a weekly basis in the Middle East. Yet you aim to focus on the Jews and Israel the Jewish country!
Who was it that said, “I will bless you that bless Israel and curse those who curse Israel? Oh yes, now I remember, it was G-d!
Kindly take some steps back and…think long and hard, for in the end, truly, it will not be Israel who suffers.
