JERUSALEM (Arutz-7) – Shimon Sabag, director of the Yad Ezer Lachaver organization, which helped track down the ‘Arbeit Macht Frei’ sign days after it was stolen last month from Auschwitz, said in an interview  that the Polish thieves who stole the sign were assisted by workers inside the concentration camp site.

“The closed circuit TV had been turned off; we already had clues as to what happened at the beginning of the week,” Sabag said.

The organization, which provides services for Holocaust survivors, sent several volunteers to Poland to help search for the sign. He said that in the very near future, it would become clear that the thieves had acted out of antisemitic motivations.

“Despite all the denials and claims that they did it for money, we know for a fact that at least one of the thieves was involved with a neo-Nazi group,” he said.
