Washington, DC – B’nai B’rith International was shocked by comments in an interview with The Daily Beast by former Carter-era National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski that suggested that the United States should shoot Israeli war planes out of the sky if Israel tries to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities.

In a statement, B’nai B’rith said: “It is unhelpful, and perhaps even dangerous, for Zbigniew Brzezinski to make such outrageous statements regarding a hypothetical Israeli action.

“We are shocked that someone with Zbigniew Brzezinski’s deep foreign policy and diplomacy experience would suggest such a reckless action as shooting down a plane belonging to one of America’s closest allies. Words matter, and someone so steeped in the delicate language of international relations should know to choose his words more carefully.

“Brzezinski’s disregard for the very real security threat that Iran poses to Israel and the world is astonishing.”
