Israel Opportunity Investor: The new authority on Israeli stocks PDF Print E-mail

TORONTO – Israel ranks number one in the world in research and development. Microsoft’s Bill Gates said that the quality of education at Israeli institutions produces an outstanding workforce of innovative and talented recruits. Warren Buffet made his largest, single, international investment when he spent $4 billion dollars buying Israeli company Iscar. In an interview on CNN, Buffet explained that Iscar is not just an excellent Israeli company but that “it is an impressive business measured against everything he sees in the world. Talent,” Buffet said, is worth more than money.

Innovation, technology, centres of excellence, entrepreneurship and talent are driving the Israeli economy, which is experiencing unprecedented growth. Two of Israel’s young investment entrepreneurs with an aptitude for exposing hidden opportunities are launching the Israel Opportunity Investor, a monthly newsletter. This is a research newsletter analyzing Israeli companies trading on the major US stock exchanges, particularly, NASDAQ.

Aaron Katsman and Zack Miller, partners and managing directors of Israel Opportunity Investor, are both American citizens who have made Aliyah and live in Jerusalem.

Katsman, originally from Seattle, has lived in Israel for 15 years. He was a founder and managed the private banking group for Citigroup in Israel for three and a half years. He is currently the president of global investments for Profile Investments. From 1999-2001, he was a senior analyst at a leading Israeli venture capital fund, where he gained an intimate working knowledge of the Israeli high-tech scene.

Miller arrived in Israel six years ago from Miami. He joins Israel Opportunity Investor from Seeking Alpha, the destination site for Internet-based equity research by asset managers, financial newsletters and bloggers, where he was head of business development. Previously, Miller was an analyst at Oasis Capital Management, a multinational, multi-strategy hedge fund.

“With more companies listed on NASDAQ than any other country except the US, Israel is the focus of more and more investor attention,” said Katsman, “There are hundreds of US publicly traded Israeli companies that are little known. With a local Israeli presence, Israel Opportunity Investor has access to the senior management of these companies, enabling us to discover the enterprises with the highest growth potential, and provide this information to the investing public.”

Each month the newsletter will target North American investors with “timely trading ideas and stock analysis, special reports, and interviews.” Subscribers will be exposed to in-depth analysis of leading-edge Israeli Technology and clear direction on where to maximize investment dollars.

Katsman is quick to point out that their newsletter is not just targeted to a Jewish audience nor does it have any political agenda. The objective is to reach all serious investors looking for the most lucid advice on companies, just emerging or established in an area of the world with astounding growth and potential profitability.

One of the companies highlighted by IOV is Given Imaging Ltd. (NASDAQ:GIVN). This company markets an ingestible camera in the form of a pill. The pill takes images of the gastrointestinal tract. This non-invasive diagnostic tool is used for diagnosing digestive diseases. This company, with a strong proprietary position and growing regulatory approval, should be on the astute investor’s radar.

David Rubin, president of the Canada Israel Chamber of Commerce, said he liked the sound of this new initiative and that the Chamber may collaborate, in the future, with this securities newsletter. He went on to say that, the chamber of commerce will have its own newsletter that may appear on its web site or an alternate form. In the interim, he said, information will appear on a regular basis, on its web site, concerning Israeli companies listed on the TSX.

Dec. 2, 2007, is the scheduled release date for the initial issue of the Israel Opportunity Investor newsletter. With the Israeli economy averaging 5 per cent growth over the last three years and the Tel Aviv exchange up 23 per cent so far this year I think it is a safe bet that this newsletter will find a receptive audience.
